We are a family of four struggling to eat simply and nutritiously in a world with an abundance of high-calorie, easily-available, low-nutrition foods. This blog will document our journey of learning, sometimes failing, always trying, and ultimately succeeding. Above all, we hope to help lessen the inflammation that causes severe bronchial swelling in my three-year old son when he gets a cold virus. I am not a doctor or a nutritionist. I am a mother, a wife, and a woman doing my best to take care of the people who mean the most to me.
As of September 14, 2014, our existing health conditions are:
- Dad: gluten-intolerance (potential Celiac’s), severe allergies/sinus problems, random and severe pain (a diagnosis of fibromyalgia has been thrown around), ocular migraines, overweight
- Mom: seasonal allergies, infrequent exercise-induced asthma, occasional insomnia, overweight
- 3-year old Boy: severe reactive airway when sick with an upper respiratory virus (taking Zyrtec, Singulair, and Inhaled Steroids), frequent tummy upset
- 2-year old Girl: irregular bowel movements, eczema
Positive comments are always welcome. We’d love to hear suggestions, personal stories, or recommended changes to our plan. Comments with a negative tone, judgmental voice, or inappropriate language will be ignored and may be deleted.
